(a good way to get on their prayer support team)

Edmir and Claire arrived in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines in November 2019, and they serve at Sagip Community Life Center which is an outreach arm of Sampaloc Bible Christian Community (SBCC). Sagip Community Life Center provides specialized medical and dental care to the urban poor community. The Mirandas were able to go to the Philippines on several short-term missions trips with SWBIBLE. This gave them multiple opportunities to meet people in the church, walk in the surrounding neighborhoods, and see the physical and spiritual needs of the people living in this context, causing them to feel increasingly burdened to go back. When Dr. Richard Trinidad came to Portland and presented Sagip (Tagalog for “Rescue”) to their home Bible study group, they considered and prayed about being able to serve through Sagip using their experience in healthcare. Through Sagip, the Lord provided the opportunity to serve Him in the Philippines after retirement from their jobs here in Portland. Claire works as a nurse in the clinic. Her work involves assessing patients, praying for them and sharing the gospel when given the opportunity. Edmir is in charge of day-to-day operations of the clinic, and he also spends time praying and doing spiritual counseling with the patients. Whenever Sagip is open, the Mirandas try to share the love of God. They say, “We make this our goal at Sagip.” Edmir also serves alongside Cesar Tallada, the National Facilitator for Romans Project over the Philippines.
