Mangyan Outreach

It's powerful to see the power of God's Word to transform lives and a blessing to be involved in this work through serving those in need in the name of Jesus. On Monday, our team together with believers from UEC in Mindoro and Sagip Medical Clinic in Manila drove about 30 minutes outside Calapan City to partner with a local congregation to put on an outreach event to the Mangyan people. The Mangyans live in the remote mountainous region of the island of Mindoro and have limited access to medical resources. Our team was able to setup a station where Mangyans who needed medical attention were able to come. While the medical treatment was being provided, we were able to play games, sing songs, and enjoy food together with people of all ages.

As families were waiting in line, we had opportunities to talk with them about Jesus. Many of them seemed to have faith in Jesus but did not feel confident that they were going to heaven or seemed to still be relying on their own good works for their salvation. It was a huge privilege to be able to read some verses like John 3:16 and Romans 6:23 with them and explain that if we believe in Jesus we can be certain about our eternal destiny. We prayed together, and it was a huge joy to see the smiles on their faces after our conversations. I was reminded once again of how universal the offer of salvation is, and the hope that comes through faith in Jesus.
