House Fellowship & Outreach

Sept 3 | Written by Casimir Barksdale & Erin Mulder

Our team split into two groups this evening. One group stayed in a home where the UEC church leaders host a House Fellowship with dinner & Biblical discussion, and the other group went out to other homes in the area for evangelism.

Casimir:

We went out in groups of three, two from the SW team and one person from UEC who helped us translate. The homes we visited were Compassion kids’ family homes. The group that I was part of visited the house of Emmanuel. We got to know him and his family, and we learned that his wife was in Saudi Arabia. She was working and sending what she made back to her family, and she would not be returning for 2 years. Apparently this arrangement is not too uncommon for Filipino families.

After getting to know the family, we were able to share the gospel with them and encourage them to be in the Word and prayer. It was a really good experience just being able to listen to their story and to share with them. We also gave the kids some candy and small toys which were greatly appreciated.

Erin:

Our team was able to visit about six homes in total for evangelism and outreach. Matt got to talk with a lady who hadn’t left her home in five years due to suffering greatly from depression. After some conversation, she agreed to have a UEC leader come into her home this week and have a Bible study with her. Praise God, pray this continues regularly! It’s amazing that they can bring the Good News to her! One of the photos below is from a Compassion home we walked into, and one of the girls had met me in on my previous trip in 2018, and she pulled up a photo of us. We made sure to take an updated 2024 one :).

The second part of our team stayed in a home the whole time. We served a meal to the group and had a time of fellowship with them. We sang a couple worship songs and joined in a discussion about the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. This house fellowship has been going on for quite some time now. Weekly, these people are learning who Jesus is, getting answers to their questions and gaining regular community with believers. Pray that attendees are saved and that the Lord continues to allow this group to thrive. What a joy it was to join them for this time!
